Renewing the Heart of the Mountainside Boathouse

For generations of campers, the first steps toward the lake at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps have marked the beginning of unforgettable experiences. Paddles dip into the water, sails catch the wind, and young people discover confidence, independence, and the joy of outdoor adventure.
At the center of these moments stands Mountainside Boathouse, a structure that has supported sailing, windsurfing, environmental education, and other waterfront programming for more than a century.
Today, the camp community has a chance to preserve this historic landmark and enhance it for future generations of campers by renovating Mountainside Boathouse.

The Vision: A Stronger Mountainside Boathouse for Future Generations

Key elements of the project include:

  • Structural lifting and foundation improvements to ensure long-term stability

  • Updated framing, siding, roofing, and decking to strengthen the building

  • Improved storage and organization for boats and waterfront equipment

  • Enhanced access points and safer docking areas

  • Program spaces that support sailing and windsurfing instruction, as well as Environmental Education classes.

  • Preservation of historic signatures and elements.

“The Mountainside Boathouse is where friendships begin, confidence grows, and lifelong memories are made. Your support ensures that future generations of campers will continue to experience that same sense of belonging and growth on the lake.” - Marc Koch, District Executive Director

Invest. Build. Leave a legacy.

As of May 12, 2027, we have raised $150,000 in support of the Mountainside renovation.

To recognize leadership support, a limited number of naming opportunities are available as part of the Fairview Lake Boathouse renovation. Each opportunity offers a meaningful and lasting way to celebrate your commitment to youth development and the camp experience.

Boathouse Legacy Circle: $10,000

Provide campers with hands-on experiences on the water while creating a personal legacy and recognition on a dedicated plaque.

Fairwind Fellowship: $5,000

Support essential camp programming and equipment. Donors will be recognized on a dedicated plaque within the boathouse.

Friends of Fairview Lake: $1,000

Help ensure access and opportunity for all campers. Donors will be recognized as part of a collective listing within the boathouse.

Why Philanthropy Matters

By investing in the renovation of Mountainside Boathouse, donors will help ensure that thousands of young people continue to experience the confidence, friendships, and personal growth that come from time spent at camp and on the water.
Together, we can preserve the heart of the Fairview Lake experience and inspire future generations of campers to explore, grow, and thrive.

To make a donation, please contact Marc Koch, District Executive Director, or Deana Cynar, Director of Development.
